Black Friday Bike sales
REI, the outside clothing and equipment retailer, revealed Monday so it would close all 143 of the stores, including locations in Timonium and Columbia, on Black Friday, Nov. 27.
"For 76 years, our co-op was specialized in something and another thing only: a life outdoors, " composed REI President and CEO Jerry Stritzke. "We think that being outside makes our everyday lives better. And Ebony Friday could be the perfect time and energy to remind ourselves with this essential truth."
Ebony Friday is typically the kick-off regarding the holiday shopping period and several retailers launch sales and expand their hours to attract consumers. Lately, the break features even bled into Thanskgiving Day itself with stores starting when you look at the belated mid-day or early night.
But leaping on REI's bandwagon was a good investment for Joe Traill, whom has the Joe's Bike Shop shops in Mount Washington and Fell's aim.
"We in fact thought about shutting for Black Friday just last year, but we believed that was crazy, Black Friday is approximately retail, " Traill stated. "After that we saw REI doing it and, yeah, it isn't so crazy."
He currently closes the stores for Boxing Day, the afternoon after Christmas time.
"Holidays that unique deserve on a daily basis of event and on a daily basis of recovery, " Traill stated.
Obviously, Traill's idea of data recovery doesn't involve relaxing regarding chair and seeing soccer. To motivate individuals really #OptOutside, the retailer intends to arrange a mountain bike ride at Loch Raven Reservoir for Ebony Friday.
