Huge field retailer Target (NYSE: TGT), situated in Minneapolis, begins preparing its shops for Ebony Friday in late August, based on Mike Yost, who's a store group frontrunner in Columbia Heights. Apart from brand new smaller stores like College Park and Rosslyn, all Target stores will start at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and will be open in the evening into Ebony Friday.
"This location is clearly never as busy on Black Friday as some of the other areas in the Greater Washington location, " Yost stated.
So which will be the busiest? Potomac Yard and also the place near Seven Corners in Falls Church, which may be 30 percent busier than Columbia Heights. Those two stores tend to be presented in a more traditional fashion as compared to 200, 000-square-foot Columbia Heights area, which suits its metropolitan environment with two amounts.
Through the 18 hours roughly that Target is open between Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the Columbia Heights store could see about 20, 000 consumers. But Yost anticipates the notorious outlines of just one, 000 to 2, 000 buyers waiting in the doors will primarily gather at Northern Virginia shops.
"We do have a decent amount of foot traffic, but a lot of the additional cargo that goes into this, such as the doorbusters, are in fact likely to be pressed towards the areas having greater lines, " Yost added.
