Black Friday sales event

Best Buy will be holding an early Black Friday sales event on Nov. 7. The event will include only certain participating stores and run for limited hours.

As the holiday season approaches and retailers gear up for the biggest shopping period of the year, all the big players look for new and different ways to stand out from the pack. This year, Best Buy is taking a novel approach by offering a special "limited edition" Black Friday sale, which will launch in 400 participating Best Buy stores on Saturday, Nov. 7 between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m.

"Nov. 7 Special Holiday Shopping Events: All Best Buy stores will offer Black Friday-like deals on this year's hottest gifts on Saturday, Nov. 7. Special holiday shopping events will take place in 400 participating Best Buy stores from 1 to 5 p.m. local time. Go to starting Oct. 29 to find a nearby participating store. The in-store events will feature robot and virtual reality demos run by Geek Squad Agents; a free tech gift for the first 100 customers and the chance to win one of five $1, 000 Best Buy gift cards through a Twitter sweepstakes."

In another Best Buy exclusive, American Express cardholders can sign up to receive a $20 statement credit when making purchases of $199 or more on their Amex cards in any Best Buy store or online. The deal is good through the end of 2015, and all purchases don't need to be made at once, but just have to add up to $199 by Dec. 31, 2015.

The catch is that customers looking to take advantage of this deal need to sign up via Twitter, which means you must have an active Twitter account to participate. Joining Twitter is free, however, and there's no requirement that you have to tweet regularly, but you do need to sync your Amex card to your Twitter account in order to be eligible.
