REI #OptOutside Bannerregarding shopping in U.S., no time can outshine Black Friday.

While the shopping occurrence can be a crucial sales time for U.S. stores, outdoor merchant, Recreational gear Inc (REI) is choosing to shut all 143 of their store doorways, in the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The U.S. outside equipment and recreations store launched it might pay its entire staff — 12, 000 workers — to head outdoors on November 27.

"For 76 many years, our co-op has been specialized in something and something thing only: a life outside. We genuinely believe that becoming outside makes our resides better. And Ebony Friday could be the perfect time for you tell ourselves of this crucial truth, " REI's chief executive and president, Jerry Stritzke wrote regarding the firm's website.

The nationwide Retail Federation shocked experts just last year, after figures recommended Black Friday weekend was not as successful as previous years. The non-profit cited internet shopping, very early getaway offers and an improving economy as reasons for the change in just how customers saw Black Friday.

Above asking its employees to "opt outside", REI is asking its customers to endeavor in the open air instead of in shops through the day's event.

"Even though the other countries in the globe is battling it in aisles, we are going to be investing our time somewhat in a different way. We're choosing to choose external, and need you to have us, " Stritzke included.

David Ciancio, a senior customer strategist at Dunnhumby, a U.K.-based client research company, said that REI knows its clients well and realizes that loyalty is a good made by delivering an excellent holistic brand name experience.

"Loyalty is much more about interactions and connections with individuals and about quality, value – and above all – trust."

"i believe that REI's choice to admire the holiday of Thanksgiving, thus honoring its staff with an 'employee' Friday will show to be an infinitely more efficient and longer-term respect building method, than a one time sales event, " he said in an email emailed to CNBC.
